2023年度限量筆以古埃及為靈感，融入其三千年歷史、眾神、神話與文明成就。古埃及人稱其家園為「Kemet」（意為「黑土地」），因尼羅河黑色淤泥常年氾濫並肥沃這片土地。這年度循環更啟發了約365天曆法的誕生。筆身的黑色與裝飾元素，見證了埃及王國的起源、法老王的傳承、神聖象形文字與符號。

筆蓋：皇冠
筆蓋設計模仿娜芙蒂蒂皇后標誌性的藍冠（altiyjan）。這種高聳的冠形極為罕見，象徵娜芙蒂蒂的權力地位，不僅等同於，甚至可能超越其丈夫阿肯那頓。

筆身：象形文字與蓮花
精緻的象形文字（medu neter）裝飾於金屬筆身：十二位古埃及神祇的名字以鑽石碳塗層鐫刻其上。象形文字被視為埃及最古老的書寫形式，約7,000個字符流傳至今。

蓮花（seshen）在古埃及象徵重生與更新，其精緻圖案裝飾於2023年度限量筆的筆尾。

筆尾：荷魯斯之眼
筆尾以24K金鍍層金屬片鐫刻荷魯斯之眼。荷魯斯的左眼，被稱為月亮之眼，象徵治癒、守護、完美與力量。

筆蓋頂：聖甲蟲
筆蓋頂部鑲嵌重組青金石，刻有聖甲蟲（cheperer）閃耀其上。在古埃及，甲蟲被視為神聖，常見於護身符、印章與棺木上，象徵太陽、生命與重生。

筆握：法老王
圖坦卡門法老王面具是古埃及最著名的發現之一，重達12公斤。筆握的設計靈感來自法老王（per-aa）條紋頭巾上的金與青金石條紋。

24K金鍍層金屬環與多層手繪藍環交錯，重現專屬於法老王的珍貴頭飾。

The Pen of the Year 2023 is inspired by ancient Egypt, its 3,000-year-old history, its gods and goddesses, its mythology and its achievements. The people called their home Kemet (meaning “Black Land”) because it was often flooded by the dark silt of the Nile, which fertilised the earth. This annual cycle is said to have led to the creation of the calendar system consisting of roughly 365 days. The black colour and decorative elements of the Pen of the Year 2023 are testaments to the origins of the Kingdom of Egypt, the pharaohs, their hieroglyphs and symbols.

Cap: Crown
The cap of the Pen of the Year 2023 is modelled on the striking shape of the blue crown (altiyjan) that the bust of Nefertiti is so famous for. Nefertiti’s tall cap-crown shape was rare. It is a symbol of Nefertiti’s position of power, which was at least equal to, if not higher than, her husband Akhenaten.

Barrel: Hieroglyphs and Lotus
Ornate hieroglyphs (medu neter) adorn the metal barrel of the Pen of the Year 2023: The names of twelve ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses are engraved in the diamond-like carbon coating on the metal.

Hieroglyphs are considered to be the oldest form of Egyptian writing, with around 7,000 of them having been passed down to us.

The lotus flower (seshen), which represented regeneration and rebirth in ancient Egypt, provided the inspiration for the delicately engraved pattern on the end piece of the Pen of the Year 2023.

Barrel end: Eye of Horus
Engraved in a 24-carat-gold-plated metal plate, the end piece of the Pen of the Year 2023 is also decorated with the Eye of Horus.

The left Eye of Horus, known as the eye of the moon, is seen as a symbol for healing, protection, perfection and power.

Cap top: Scarab
The inlaid, reconstructed blue lapis lazuli engraved with a scarab (cheperer) shines bright in the end piece of the Pen of the Year 2023’s cap. The beetle was sacred in ancient Egypt and was seen as a lucky symbol on amulets, seals and coffins as well as a symbol of the sun that represented life and rebirth.

Section: Pharaohs
The mask of Tutankhamun, one of the most famous and impressive finds from ancient Egypt, weighs a massive 12 kilos. The grip of the Pen of the Year 2023 is inspired by the stripes of gold and lapis lazuli as seen on the pharaoh’s (per-aa) nemes head cloth.

24-carat-gold-plated metal rings and blue rings meticulously hand-painted with several coats call to mind the valuable headdress reserved solely for the pharaohs.
