Pelikan Souverän M600 Art Collection – Glauco Cambon

Glauco Cambon (1875-1930) was an Italian painter and graphic artist known for his interest in advertising posters. He achieved fame through his paintings, such as “Portrait of Attilio Hortis” and “Music.” Cambon was involved in various artistic endeavors, including portraiture, caricatures, decorations, and artistic billboards. In 1909, at the age of 22, he submitted a design for the Pelikan poster competition called “Competition for Art Painters and Architects,” which inspired the creation of the new pen. His design won a prize and was purchased by Pelikan. Glauco Cambon passed away on March 7, 1930, in Biella, Italy.

The design of the pen’s barrel draws inspiration from the colorful pelicans painted by Cambon, particularly the reflections in the water. The M600 pen utilizes a new process called the “Aurora” process. Notably, the pen’s barrel is made of brass, which differs from the standard M6xx models. The brass barrel is engraved and guilloched to create fine grooves that give it an almost holographic effect. Ten layers of lacquer are applied and polished, followed by printing the image on the barrel. A final polishing gives it a high gloss shine. The barrel is complemented by black resin components, and the trim is plated in 24-carat gold. Each pen comes with a 14C-585 gold nib of your choice in the standard widths of EF, F, M,and B.
